From a Specialist Practice to a Regional Inspection Authority
Altair Engineering Inspection — formerly known as A-Star Training & Consultancy — was established in Singapore in 2008 with a clear and deliberate purpose: to deliver NDT inspection services that are technically superior, procedurally rigorous, and genuinely useful to the industries and asset owners that rely on them.
In the early years, our focus was on building the technical foundation that defines us today — assembling a team of certified, experienced NDT professionals across multiple methods and disciplines, investing in advanced inspection equipment, and earning the industry accreditations that reflect the quality standard we hold ourselves to. ISO 9001 quality management. ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation. SAC-SINGLAS recognition. DNV-UKAS approval. Each accreditation was earned through the quality of our practice, not pursued as a commercial checkbox.
As our reputation grew, so did our reach. From our Singapore base, we extended operations into Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia — serving an expanding client base across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power Generation, Shipbuilding, Aerospace, and Civil Infrastructure. Today, Altair Engineering Inspection has served over 300 clients across the region, delivered inspection programmes on some of Asia's most complex and high-profile industrial assets, and built a technical capability that spans the full NDT spectrum — from conventional methods to advanced digital techniques.
What has not changed through that growth is our core conviction: that inspection is only valuable if it produces results that are accurate, traceable, and actionable. We hold every inspection we deliver to that standard — regardless of scale, method, or sector.
