Supply of Welders

Coded welders qualified to ASME IX, AWS D1.1, EN ISO 9606, and project-specific WPS requirements — for structural, pressure, and pipeline welding on construction, fabrication, and repair projects where welding procedure compliance and welder qualification traceability are non-negotiable.

What Is Coded Welder Supply?

Coded welder supply is the provision of welders whose qualification testing has been conducted and documented against a specific welding procedure specification (WPS) and the applicable welding qualification standard — ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, EN ISO 9606, or an operator-specific qualification requirement — producing a Welder Qualification Test Record (WQTR) or Welder Performance Qualification Record (WPQR) that demonstrates the welder's ability to produce welds conforming to the procedure for the specific process, position, material group, thickness range, and joint configuration the project requires.

"Coded" in this context means the welder has been tested and qualified — not that they have passed a general trade test. The code qualification is specific: a welder qualified for SMAW on carbon steel plate in the 3G position is not automatically qualified for GMAW on stainless steel pipe in the 6G position. We confirm qualification scope against the project WPS requirements before supplying welders — not after arrival on site has revealed the mismatch.

Every welder supplied by Altair Engineering Inspection holds a current, in-scope qualification record traceable to the applicable welding standard. Where a qualification has lapsed or the project WPS requires a re-test, we arrange the qualification testing before deployment — not as an afterthought at the project site.
